But this blog goes out to the ones who are in the waiting zone for their own Valentine. I pray for those who desire to love and have it returned. There's nothing wrong with wanting this until it consumes you. What do I mean? When you want this more than anything else, its dangerous territory.
Having a relationship does not guarantee this day is all that. Even if you have your own special one, the day can still go south. Because expectations can kill any romance. The woman has a general idea of how this day should go until it flops.
Maybe, the guy missed all the daily hints given and ran out to get a last-minute no-thought gift. You don't see any chocolates and you can totally forget about dinner reservations anywhere because he simply didn't plan or think about it. The worst, your girlfriend's man got it right and she's sporting a new bracelet and necklace. You're happy for her but this has you looking crazy because your man didn't even think inside that box.
But answer this, does this mean he doesn't love you? And if he did get the completed list does this mean he truly loves you?
Could it be that some of us spend too much time looking across the street at so-in-love-Shelly-em that we can't appreciate what we do have? Let me make it plain, stay with me for a minute.
There's a woman who received her heart's desire but beaten terribly the night before.
There's a woman who had a candlelit dinner after her husband dined with his mistress.
There's a woman who's mad at the world because her husband forgot this day.
There's a woman who received a gift but complained and the man wished he hadn't even tried.
There's a woman who didn't get anything but her man would die for her.
The truth of the matter is we can't believe the hype. Don't go by how it looks. All we know, is what we live because only God knows the heart. The only unconditional love I know about is the love of God.
Be thankful for what love you do have from family. Celebrate and treat yourself to something this week. Be grateful because you are special with or without a valentine. A teddy bear to hold, a flower to smell and some chocolate to eat does not supply the love yearned. Because when this day is over, what does the person really have? Is it true love or a fairytale...
